Introduction to Revoice Pro
What is Revoice Pro?
Revoice Pro is a revolutionary and unique audio processing program for professional audio editors. This product is designed to work primarily with voice and monophonic instruments but may be tried creatively to work with other types of audio signals.
It currently supports the efficient use of two unique automated processes:
- Audio Performance Transfer (APT)
Gives a target audio signal (Dub) the selected timing, pitch and/or loudness characteristics of a "Guide" audio signal.
APT is powered by and includes the most advanced version of VocALign.
- Realistic Doubler
Instantly creates natural-sounding double tracks from one input signal. It can also provide creative time and pitch modulation effects.
It also has the ability to manually edit the pitch and time of an APT output signal.
What is Revoice Pro used for?
Revoice Pro is designed to reduce hours of tedious manual editing of audio signals' timing, pitch, vibrato or loudness and create extremely high-quality results in a fraction of the normal time.
Applications include:
- Automatically creating "tight" double (or multiple) tracks from multiple takes
- Modifying the inflection of spoken phrases from one actor's takes to match another take or even a different actor
- Creating one or more realistic double tracks from a single input track
Overview of Operational Steps
The operation of Revoice Pro is streamlined to require only 4 main steps, which can process several minutes of input signals in seconds and save hours of manual editing.
These steps are Input the audio that requires processing. Create the Processes:
- Input audio to Revoice Pro. In the case of the APT process, two input signals are required. These are shown below, loaded in the first two tracks. Below each audio track is a Process Control Track for the audio above it. A Doubler process has only one input signal.
- Insert Process Control Blocks into the Process Control Track(s) (as shown below) to designate what the process is, what portion of each input signal is to be used, and into which track the output is to go.
- Optionally, adjust the processing parameters if the default process settings are not adequate for that specific process.
- Start playback of the processed audio to check its quality
- The processing is run automatically before playback.
- Export the audio back to the audio editor, or a file.
This User Guide breaks these steps down in detail.
Why is Revoice Pro a stand-alone program?
Revoice Pro has been deliberately developed as a program and not a plug-in, because there are significant speed and operational advantages over the restrictions of plug-in environments. These advantages include providing:
- The ability to implement multi-input processes.
- A novel and effective “region-based processing" approach to audio processing in which inputs to processing modules are inserted where required along the timeline in Process Control Tracks.
- A simple, intuitive controls of an “process-based preview” system for rapidly auditioning combinations of input and output signals and quality checking modifications.
- Multiple processes with different parameters can use the same tracks for inputs and/or outputs.
- Processes for audio signal manipulation can be more powerful and more controllable.
